Arthritis Treatment Method

In most cases of arthritis primarily affects the elderly, but now adulthood too many have been stricken with this disease arthritis. For symptoms of the disease joint pain can be seen from various aspects such as: feeling uncomfortable when held, swelling, inflammation, foot and movement restrictions. Joint pain does not always signify rheumatic diseases, because in addition to joint pain, rheumatism can also affect the muscles and tendons (where the muscles attach), which may not swollen but still sick. In general, there are many types of rheumatism, but the most common is osteoarthritis, rheumatism and gout.

The basic cause of arthritis:

     1. blood acidic pH conditions.

     2. toxicity in the blood.

     3. milk allergy (clinical evidence shows that the biggest cause is allergies.

     4. A person who is allergic to milk get joint pain when consuming milk).

     5. Stress.

Rheumatoid Arthritis affects an estimated cases at the age above 18 years and ranges from 0.1% to 0.3% of the total population of Indonesia, in patients with advanced stage will make the patient unable to perform daily activities and quality of life decreases. Other symptoms that include fever, decreased appetite, weight loss, weakness and anemia.

Treatment of psoriatic arthritis:

     - Fish oil
Fish oil may slightly reduce the proteins involved in inflammation, "said Eric L. Matteson, MD, chairman of rheumatology at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minn psoriatic arthritis patients were advised to consume 2000-3000 mg per day, if needed.

     - Dr. Fiocco noted that Eskimo populations have a lower incidence of arthritis and psoriatic arthritis when compared with the other groups. Genetics may play a role, but it can also be associated with a diet high in eicosapentaenoic acid or fish oil. Diets high in eicosapentaenoic acid or fish oil could potentially help treat psoriatic arthritis.

     - Acupuncture
Acupuncture has successfully relieve almost all forms of arthritis, including psoriatic arthritis, acupuncture does not help the treatment of psoriatic arthritis directly. However, some people say that acupuncture can reduce pain caused by arthritis. The best results have been reported regarding the effects of acupuncture for osteoarthritis of the knee, said Dr. Matteson.

     - Turmeric
Turmeric can relieve the symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. That is because turmeric has an effect on the reduction of certain inflammatory proteins. Some psoriatic arthritis patients may get the positive effects of turmeric, but the effect is very light and difficult to measure, said Dr. Matteson.

Some people did try turmeric with the aim to alleviate the symptoms of psoriatic arthritis that they experienced, but generally they do not realize the effect.

     - Willow Bark
Willow bark is sometimes referred to as herbal aspirin. Willow bark contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). A study in 2001 found that willow bark extract equivalent to 240 mg of salicin daily dose. The study was conducted in the placebo group and the group of patients with osteoarthritis, which consists of 78 people.

    - Vitamin D
Based on studies in 2011, vitamin D deficiency is common in people with psoriatic arthritis. However, vitamin D deficiency is common in patients with psoriatic arthritis, the cause is not known clearly. Perhaps it was due to psoriatic arthritis patients spend more time indoors, so exposure to sunlight for less body and cause a deficiency of vitamin D.

Yet another study says that vitamin D levels do not seem to affect psoriatic arthritis disease activity. In a study of 10 patients taking vitamin D, there are 7 people who experience a decrease in joint pain. However, in these studies there was no placebo group for comparison. Still needs to be done a lot of research to prove the usefulness of vitamin D for patients with psoriatic arthritis.

     - Vitamin K
Vitamin K is found in green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach, and broccoli, canola oil, and olive. From the research it is said that, low levels of vitamin K is associated with more severe osteoarthritis in a group comprising nearly 700 patients.

However, it is unclear whether vitamin C can help osteoarthritis, arthritis, and psoriatic. But it never hurts to eat leafy vegetables green enough.

     - L-carnitine
L-carnitine is derived from amino acids, carnitine is involved in the metabolism of fats and are found in almost all cells of the body. Healthy people generally produce enough carnitine from the body itself, and carnitine are not considered as essential nutrients.

Some experts say that, carnitine may benefit people with psoriatic arthritis, but it has not been proven. For example, a man 36 years in given L-carnitine, decreased knee pain associated with psoriatic arthritis, but the study was not accompanied by a placebo group for comparison.

     - Vitamin B12
From the research it is said that vitamin B12 deficiency is more common in people with psoriatic arthritis compared with people who do not suffer from the disease. "But like vitamin D, vitamin B12 does not seem to be the primary treatment option," said Dr. Fiocco.

Vitamin B12 is found in shellfish, fish, cereals, and yogurt.
